Random Ramblings…
2008 August 19
I’m not making the move over to the new place yet. Construction is still in the works. And if anyone is curious about the move, just ask.
Not a lot to say right now, so it may be a quiet week from me. And I haven’t had the camera out lately, so no new pictures right now.
As for the family, we are all fine.
- Little Dude’s language skills have exploded into a rainbow of two- and three-syllable words, which seems to make him very happy. I’m trying to teach him the word “zucchini,” since my mom made him some zucchini muffins. Last night, he excitedly ran around the house saying “aepane” (airplane), as I gave him a small model airplane. We live in a main flight path (we aren’t near a major airport, so this isn’t noisy or irritating at all – we just see a lot of high-flying planes), so he gets excited whenever he hears or sees an airplane overhead. We always have to go looking for airplanes.
- I’ve lost four pounds. You didn’t even know I was trying, did you? My mom has lost a bunch of weight and has inspired me to get back to the road I was on before I had Little Dude, so I’m practicing portion control, watching my carbohydrates and counting calories. I’m trying not to look at the big goal, I just want to be healthier and not feel like such a blimp every time I see a picture of myself.
- The Hubby spent some time helping at church the last two days. We are doing some much-needed remodeling and repairs there, so he has been heavily involved in helping when needed. My parents and the Hubby’s nephews joined him, while I was home with Little Dude. Happily, a lot of other folks have been pitching in to help, which always makes the tasks go more quickly. I’m eager to see the result of the latest project – some new carpeting at the front. I was confirmed, married and Little Dude was baptized on the old gold (yes, I said gold) carpeting, and for all I know, I may have been baptized on that carpeting, too. It has been there as long as I can remember.
- We’ve been trying to schedule a lot of family time to go for walks, go to the park and just play outside with Little Dude. The next month is jam-packed with activities, so we are trying to make the most of our family time when the opportunity presents.
- Supercat hasn’t been “sending back” his food quite as much as he had been, and has seemed healthier overall, so I’m hopeful he is feeling well and healthy. We are working on switching over to a crystal-based litter for him, so I can better monitor the color of his urine. (Fun, right?) The clay-based litter did a good job of letting me know he had enough urine (counted the clumps), but it doesn’t really show urine color. With the last episode of blood in his urine, I decided I wanted to monitor that more closely…
Now that I’ve shared too much about cat urine and possibly bored you all to tears, I think I’ll go eat an apple.

It does sound like the church could use some new carpet. *lol* … But how awesome that you’ve been going to the same church for so long. I miss the church I grew up in, but it’s a 3+ hour drive from here. *lol*
cat urine – I can relate, my wife has agreed to babysit a small pocket poodle thing that likes to tinkle where ever he pleases – going to have a rough month…….
I somehow missed the post about changing the URL and I don’t mind!
Good luck with the diet! Hope the apple was delicious!
I always enjoy reading posts about people’s day to day lives. I find it interesting.
Sometimes quiet weeks are a good thing. You didn’t offer to take the gold carpeting?!? **shock** You could’ve used it downstairs.
It’s such a lovely shade. I remember the remodel when they put it in, but can’t remember the year, but I do know it was a looooong time ago, LOL.
