Hill Smith Family Update

Not a fun little household

April 12, 2008 · 6 Comments

I know I haven’t posted Little Dude’s 15-month update yet (he had his exam right on time), but we’ve been a little under-the-weather here.

First, I have a monster cold. I began getting sick on Wednesday/Thursday, probably not helped by some sleepless nights (Little Dude has been waking at odd hours - mostly due to noise of the severe storms in our area), and the stress of several projects I’m trying to stay on top of, for work. It has been a regular, snot-filled, sleep-deprived, juggling act for me.

Next, my schedule hasn’t been this busy in a long time - both in and out of work, so I feel pulled in a million directions. The Hubby is bearing the brunt of my being so busy when it comes to home, and has been not the most pleasant person, due to his inability to get any of his stuff done.

On top of all of this, Little Dude is reacting to the latest round of immunizations. He began running a fever Friday night, has been very clingy, and concluded this evening by puking all over mommy. (Please, no comments on the “vaccinate or not-to-vaccinate,” debate. I think we are all trying to make the best decision for our own children. As for me, I believe in vaccinations, although I do think the schedule of when they get certain ones should be evaluated further.)

Yes, that would be me. With puke in places I could never hit on my own, and in places I never thought I would ever see puke. Places I never wanted to see puke, if I had to see puke in the first place.

Any of my enemies (or my two sisters) reading this can now begin their evil laughs. I think this tops any type of revenge you have ever plotted against me. This tops the horror of the first time his spit-up wound up in my bra.

The puke did not help the Hubby’s mood, although he did take Little Dude and change him, while I changed into non-puke covered clothing, and wiped puke off of places I never would have guessed it would have hit me.

So, I have the stats on Little Dude’s height and weight for 15 months, but I’m going to publish it later. I don’t feel like posting it in the puke-filled post.

I’m off to check on a sleeping Little Dude, who was back in fairly good spirits after he puked. Which leads me to believe this is truly all part of the vaccination reaction, and the big dinner he consumed tonight, after not wanting to eat much in the past 24 hours. Not him being or getting sick.

Not that I worry any less, but I feel a little reassured that this should pass fairly quickly.

It is going to be a long night, though. And I was hoping to take night-time medication for my cold.

**small sob**

Okay… Pity party is done, and I’m off to play the role of “Super Mommy,” who exists on less than two hours of sleep per twelve hours… Anyone have any blue spandex, red underwear and a cape they can lend me? I can use my black sharpie to draw an “S” on my lovely over-sized T-shirt.

Sounds like you’ve had quite the time of it…. I *hate* getting puked on! One time we were at Joe’s parents house for Christmas Eve and Alicia, who was 2 at the time, puked all over me. Of course, I didn’t have another shirt to wear, so I had to put my jacket on with no shirt on underneath. So not fun! … You know, now that I think about it, I think it was the Christmas before, when she was 14 months old…

Bleh….I am sorry you are having a rough week. I hope the little Dude is feeling all better today. Both of my boys are pukers and I know about puke.

I can remember, one night, when the stepchildren were over.

They slept with me in the big bed after their Dad went to work at 2 am. One tapped me on the shoulder to wake me up, and I was greeted by being vomited on….it was in my hair, down my shirt, everyplace.

Then, two seconds later, I got it from the other side. (I slept in the middle).

Since I was pregnant with Shortman at the time? I joined the party.

I feel your pain. Mr. Hot had a big cleaning job when he got home.

I hope he feels better soon. Either Anna is teething or she has some disease that we are just shrugging through and not freaking out about when we really should. She’s had a non-stop fever since Thursday, and she gagged on her Motrin around midnight and projectile vomited all over me. So I took a shower and went back to bed with a wet head, and now my hair looks awful. But my mom is here again, and Anna is sleeping on her, so I really can’t complain. Recap. Vomit. Bad hair. Mom is here. Sigh. You don’t sleep much on a regular basis anyway, so this shouldn’t be so difficult for you. :)

I wondered why you’ve been so quiet over there! I hope you’re all feeling better soon!

I can’t believe he’s already 15 months old. It just goes way too fast.

I’m glad to hear that Little Dude may be on the mend. I hope that you can follow his lead.

My chilren never reacted too badly to vaccinations but I have heard of stories of children that had. I’m so sorry you have had so much trouble with this round of vacs.
